ACTIVITIES UPDATE: December 2, 2015. Click on the subcategory to get information

John Brassfield and Jane Schneider and I met yesterday to outline some activities for the coming months and basically talk about all the possibilities and benefits of a CHS ’65  group might offer. Jane suggested Monday night’s Corvallis Science Pub ( http://oregonstate.edu/terra/science-pub-corvallis/ ). The topic for Monday night’s 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. talk at The Majestic Theater, 115 SW Second Street, is the Cascadia Subduction Zone and the likelihood of a catastrophic earthquake in the Pacific Northwest in the near future. Sorry about the late notice. Below are the next two scheduled talks. 

November 9, 2015 — The Life of a Dead Tree: Art and science at the H.J. Andrews Forest. Speakers: Mark Harmon of the OSU College of Forestry and four Oregon artists: Leah Wilson, David Paul Bayles, Bob Keefer and Andries Fourier.

January 9, 2016 — Face to Face and Heart to Heart: The Psychology of Disability and Communication. Speaker: Kathleen Bogart, OSU School of Psychological Science

For next Sunday morning, October 18th at 10 a.m., John suggested an interesting activity at one of Corvallis’s long term iconic hangouts… The Peacock Tavern has a hard to resist Sunday morning offering that includes all the free pool you would like to play and a $2 breakfast that includes 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon, 1 piece of toast  and an order of home fries. This is our inaugural month for organizing social activities for CHS folks and friends in the Corvallis -Portland area. It is a great way to share activities, conversations and interests. Let us know if you have an idea for the group you would like to share.
