Obituary

Former Corvallis High School principal and school-district administrator Ray W. Hardman. 3111 NW. Grant Ave, died Christmas Day at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born in Springville, Utah on Sept, 2. 1910 to Edwin and Kliza Watson Hardman. He moved to Oregon in the summer of 1915. He attended high school in Eugene and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1932 with a bachelor of science degree in education. He later earned a master's degree from the university. On Aug 17, 1935 he married Lucile Terrill in Eugene.

Mr Hardman served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World Ward II.

After the war, he moved to Corvallis and became music director for the Corvallis School District After working as a principal and assistant principal in Corvallis schools. In 1949 Mr. Hardman was named principal of Corvallis High School, a position he held for 17 years. From 1966 until his retirement in 1975, he served as administrative assistant to the Corvallis School District superintendent and as the district's personnel director.

Mr. Hardman was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and held many positions in the church. He also was a member of the Corvallis Kiwanis Club and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

He is survived by his wife Lucile, nine nieces and nephews, and 10 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p m Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, 4141 N W Harrison Blvd. Graveside services wilt follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the cancer-research program at Brigham Young University, or to the Benton Hospice in Care of the McHenry Funeral Home 206 N W 5th St . Corvallis
